IMO texting while driving should be punished the same as driving under the influence. After all, it can, and often does have the same tragic results. It also stems from the same entitled attitude as getting into a car after drinking. The, "I can handle it. I'm not that bad. It's my right to drive and no one can or should tell me otherwise." If caught, you should lose your license with mandatory jail time.

😂🤣Sometimes a good rev is all they need. YouTube is full of videos from around the world, where idiot pedestrians or cage drivers, just dont get the rules of the road/etiquette. Now, there are a great many motorcyclists who dont either, and I've been guilty of riding pretty crazy myself. But the ignorant self entitlement of pedestrians and motorists is astounding sometimes. I was taught, at an early age, to move quickly when crossing a street, after looking both ways and assessing ample time to make it across, without obstructing traffic. Something i adhere to today, 40+ years later. Even if I have the right of way, I hustle. Human body vs automobile, is no contest, and I have scars that remind me of that fact every day. Even if you're in the right, you lose, and trust me on this, it's no fun.

Ultimate Axiom, as a motorcycle rider myself, I have to agree with you. I have all but stopped riding here in the U.S. as people insist on texting while driving. I see it almost every time I'm out driving. Even tractor trailer operators, professional drivers, are texting while driving. It's insane. Like something out of a Stephen King novel, you look around and everyone around you is zombie like, heads down, looking at their damn phone. And pedestrians, dont even get me started. Bastards actually slow down when they get into a crosswalk, if they even use a crosswalk. And then there's the lovely BLM folks who have decided that they can just randomly stage protests, forming human lines, blocking main streets and highways, and the police just sit idly by, observing, afraid to arrest these fools...
I have one of these on my truck, and it makes for great fun, eases the tension, and wakes fools up in a hurry!

JWs celebrating New Year's?
by neat blue dog inthere are a few active jws i know (separate, in different areas) who basically celebrate new years, having a party to watch the ball drop, posting about it on social media, one even saying literally "happy new year" .
but most other jws seem to not want to point out the elephant in the room.
has anybody else seen this, or ever seen it turn judicial?

The last I knew, it was acceptable for a witness to wish others a happy new year. Drunken parties and revelry, celebrating the new year was a no no, as is any and all revelry celebrating anything. Many witnesses find the grey area in between...

My JW-Related Musical Experiences
by Roger Kirkpatrick inlooking back over my life, the only thing that i can say i truly enjoyed as a jw was meeting and becoming friends with a number of jws who were fine musicians and had experienced various measures of success in what used to be called the "music business.
tommy reynolds, from the vocal group hamilton, joe frank & reynolds ("don't pull your love out on me, baby" and "baby, baby, fallin' in love, i'm fallin' in love again") recruited me to play drums in his dallas circuit assembly orchestra in the 1970s.
in 1977, i became friends with legendary jazz composer/arranger/band leader benny golson, whose life story appeared in the oct. 8, 1980 awake, and who appeared opposite tom hanks in steven spielberg's "the terminal.

I have met a few musicians, who were professional until they became witnesses, and then gave it up. They still play, occasionally, but at least 3 that I knew, felt that continuing playing as a professional was detrimental to their being a witness, and gave it up, sadly.
I enjoyed your story, especially the connection to EC, as he is my favorite guitarist of all time. Incredible the number of witnesses who have at one time or another, made a living playing music, even some who've become well known. Very interesting. I would love to hear more.

Crisis of conscience
by Incognigo Montoya inso i have not read it yet.
where would be the best place to get my hands on a copy?.

Absolutely blondie, I am interested in purchasing it, not getting a free pirated copy. As an artist, I despise theft of intellectual property.
Found it on Amazon, and ordering it after the first of the year, if it doesn't show up next week, wrapped neatly with a pretty bow on it. 😁
Thank you all for your responses

Dysfunctamentalism
by Incognigo Montoya inin reading through many posts over the last few months, i have started to form a viewpoint towards at least some of those witnesses/witness families, who are abusive and overzealous in their thinking.. arguably, many, if not all here, would say all pimi witnesses are overzealous in their thinking, but i sort of disagree with that.
without revealing too much about myself, my parents who are still in (father long time elder, mother regular pioneer), i consider stable and balanced in their views.
while i was shunned to a degree, after being disfellowshipped (they didn't go out to dinner or the movies with me or socialize with me publicly or very often privately, they didn't attend my wedding) they still spoke to me on the phone every few months, as i checked in on them and let them know i was doing alright (i moved out of state in my late teens).

Religion exploits any and all governments, laws, world events, rich and poor alike. There are genuine individuals, who truly believe, practice, and faithfully adhere to whatever form they follow. And then there are the insincere, greedy, disfunctional, that use the faithful and exploit them to do whatever they wish, from fleecing their flocks and becoming incredibly wealthy, to using their position of power to prey on innocents, mentally, emotionally, and sexually. Dysfunctional people, using twisted teachings and doctrines, to create more disfunction.

I dreaded going until I discovered girls. Then lunch time was fun to cruise and look at and occasionally talk to girls from other congregations. When I got older I learned to post up in one spot with my buddies and we just watched all the pretty girls go by, stopping them and talking to them, or them stopping and talking to us. It was a good time.
